With Ryan Mathews (sprained MCL) out of action for a while and Darren Sproles limited due to a fractured rib, the Philadelphia Eagles need 22-year old rookie Wendell Smallwood and 26-year old Kenjon Barner to step up starting next Monday Night against the Green Bay Packers!  Smallwood has proven to be a playmaker so far this year.  He was a 5th round pick (#153 overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft.  Smallwood has played in 10 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has carried the ball 57 times for 253 yards (4.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 5 passes for 45 yards (9.0 avg) so far this year.  He will likely get the ball more than Barner will.  Smallwood has also returned 7 kickoffs for 221 yards (31.6 avg) with 1 TD return so far this year.  Barner is one of ex-head coach Chip Kelly’s Oregon guys.  Barner has played in 10 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has carried the ball 23 times for 121 yards (5.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 1 pass for 5 yards, returned 1 punt for 0 yards and he has returned 3 kickoffs for 114 yards (38.0 avg) so far this year for the Eagles.  Barner has now played in 28 games in his first three years with the Eagles and he has carried the ball 57 times for 252 yards (4.4 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 12 passes for 34 yards (2.8 avg), returned 2 punts for -3 yards (-1.5 avg) and he has returned 6 kickoffs for 141 yards (23.5 avg).
